What the hell is a Wang Chung?
She: [after a marathon bout of post pre-Christmas board game playing] Wow, I had fun tonight.
I: But, the real question is . . . did you Wang Chung?
She: Yes. I indeed Wanged Chung.
I: . . .
She: You look sort of . . . mystified.
I: Actually, one of life's great mysteries unraveled for me just now.
She: Oh?
I: I've wondered since I was in grade 7 or so whether the past tense was Wang Chunged, or Wanged Chung. And now, thanks to your comment just now, I finally know.
She: I'm glad I could help you out with that.

And speaking of Wang Chung, another of life's great mysteries was also revealed for me this past week, and also, it turns out, related to Wang Chung, though that relationship was part of the mystery.
You know how there are those songs you remember from your youth, but have never known, either then or now, the actual name of the song, nor who performed it?
I think I'm probably a little more obsessive that most people are about this, even. Luckily, the magic of Google has helped solve many such questions in the recent past, but one such song had managed to elude me so far, mostly because:
A. It gets practically no airplay anymore, as it's one of those songs the "Retro" programs always seem to pass by (last time I heard it was at IKEA in early 2005), and
B. The only discernable lyrics were, "Take your baby by the hand [mumble mumble mumble]"
As some of you may already know who are either up on your late 80s Brit band pop chart knowledge, better with Google than I, or else just really good at following foreshadowing, the song is "Dance Hall Days" by Wang Chung (I had no idea they performed this one), and as another song-seeker mentioned on a forum where I found the eventual answer, "A great weight has been lifted from my shoulders."

So there you go, two great mysteries, courtesy of Wang Chung. And before you laugh, that's probably more than they've accomplished in a long time, so let them enjoy their little moment of glory.
