Pac-Man
In 1982, I got my first "real" bicycle, a red special edition huffy, and managed to put 10 miles a day on it every day after school. I also managed to wreck it about once a month (including the first night I had it), but luckily Dad was always there to put things back together. It was the only thing I owned that didn't have a picture of Pac-Man on it.

Michael Knight was my hero. Knight Rider on Friday night was a sacred time.

I went to watch Chariots of Fire with a friend, and, hopelessly bored, ended up trying to beat the high score on Galaga in the movie theater lobby.

I decided to study to be an archaeologist when I grew up, just like Indiana Jones. This and other career plans never quite happened.

I found out what having a new sister was all about.

No one dared challenge the coolness of roller skating parties.

I saved up half the money for Michael Jackson's Thriller on cassette, and bought it with a friend. Everyone knew how to break-dance.

I had my first job watching the neighbors cat while they were on vacation. It became a source of recurring revenue.

Zaxxon was the best video game in the world, and I went to Showbiz Pizza every chance I got to play it. Getting "free" stuff playing skee-ball was a nice bonus.

I decided that my first car, when getting my driver's license, would be the vehicle from the Moon Patrol game, because it could drive over anything, and destroy both UFO's and road obstacles in one shot. I drew pictures of my future car for all my friends.
